Irvingia Gabonensis on Body Weight and Bloods Lipids in Normolipidemic Guinea Pigs

Abstract: The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of an oral administration of the crude extract of I gabonensis on body weight, blood, liver and faeces lipids in normolipidemic Guinea pigs. The oral treatment with acqueous extract of Irvingia gabonensis seeds at the dose of 250 mg/ kg for three weeks induced a significant increase in weight and HDL cholesterol. More over a significant decrease in plasma triglycerides and LDL cholesterol was also noticed.
