Women Civil Servants Participation in Public Policy in Bangladesh

Abstract: The experiences of some East Asian countries show that more than half of the public servants are female but their participation in policy is very discouraging. Their concentration is higher in the stereotype profession that is health, education, social service. Female participation in decision making and policy making is very insignificant. It was observed that about two third of the class I females officials were in the 7th -9th grade of pay scale. The scenario of female participation and public policy of Bangladesh is better than that of Nepal and Pakistan. Among the SARRAC countries highest number of females` employees is employed in Srilanka which is followed by India and Pakistan. In this study most of the respondents were involved in preparation in preparation of public policy. They had to provide the input for policy making as well as they prepared the draft of long term, middle term and short term plans and they were involved in the local level decision making and implementation of national level policy and programmes.
