A Sociological Study of Achievement and Motivation of Rural Migrants, A Case Study in Faisalabad City

Abstract: Internal migration i.e. population mobility within a country, may have important socio-economic consequence for the country as a whole, the area of origin and destination and the migrants themselves. This study was designed to investigate migration behavior. The present study was conducted in Faisalabad city. Four area was selected from Faisalabad city by using purposive sampling technique. From four selected areas 30 respondent was selected randomly. A sample of 120 respondents were drawn by using purposive sampling. Four areas (1) Dhodiwala (2) Rachna Town (3) Layya Abad (4) Faizabad were selected from Faisalabad city by using purposive sampling. 30 respondents were selected from each area randomly. About 76.66 percent respondents migrated fro employment, 16.6 percent respondents for better educational facilities, and 15 percent respondents for achieving better standard of living. Most of the respondents i.e. 66.6 percent were satisfied not at all before migration and after their migration about 80 percent respondents were satisfied to some extent.
