Abstract: This paper discusses two critical and very important issues in the field of multimedia data, security and compression. Definition of security, threats, techniques are given and discussed in needed details to satisfy user desire of knowledge. Compression is defined, its goals are outlined, then a brief description of the most known term compressor / decompressor (codec) is given. Concentration of compression issue was on video compression, mainly about a powerful compression and decompression system for digital video and audio (DVI). We as well illustrate DVI Media Types and the Intel`s Indeo in this paper.
