Abstract: The study examines the effect of marital instability on employee performance in the world of work. A descriptive research method (structural equation model (AMOS 22)) was applied to analyse the two hundred and twenty four copies of valid questionnaire completed by employees of the selected banks in Lagos metropolis, South-West Nigeria using stratified and simple random sampling techniques. However, the results show closed relationships between the dependent and independent variables. The study indicated that marital instability has effects on employee emotions and job performance. This suggests that desertion, separation, divorce and widowhood have effects on employee emotions and their level of job performance in the world of work.
