Towards a Streamlined Wireless and Mobile Networking Course

Authors : Michael Hosein and Sharda Beharry

Abstract: This study attempts to look at the level of acceptability and applicability of a Wireless and Mobile Computing course. The students’ views of the course over a few years are collected an analyzed. Some of the students would already have been working in industry and so could provide more meaningful feedback. The survey was conducted by the formulation of a questionnaire which was sent out via email to students who took the courses within the last three years. The aim of this study is to use the data gathered to revise syllabus/hours for a course that is relatively new worldwide. The findings are used and analyzed so that a more relevant course can be delivered and also other instructors may be able to use ideas here as a template for designing their own courses. Tertiary level schools in the Caribbean area may be able to benefit the most from this exercise. It should be noted that the initial ideas for the course came form ACM Computing Curricula.
