Authors : Ved Prakash, Tarun K. Bhattacharya and O.P. Pandey

Abstract: A study was conducted to explore polymorphism at the promoter region of interleukin-2 gene in Indian Sahiwal X Holstein Friesian crossbred cattle and its effect on certain milk associated traits. Single strand conformation polymorphism study revealed presence of three genotypes (AA, AB and AC) and three alleles (A, B and C) in the population. The frequencies of AA, AB and AC genotypes were estimated as 0.35, 0.47 and 0.18, respectively whereas the frequencies of A, B and C alleles were found as 0.68, 0.22 and 0.10, respectively.
